Hi everyone
I have lived in Westerham for many years and more by accident than design, got involved with writing a social and commercial history of the town from 1843 to 1918. I am featuring 6 real families of the time whose menfolk were ambitiously building their businesses in the community. I am about to start researching George Verrall, the blacksmith, Sidney Vaus, a local plumber and Herbert Bird who owned a large ironmongery where Chelsea House Furnishing is now. If anybody has any information or family connections with these three guys, I would be keen to speak to you.

Hi, I have a photo of my father in law taken around the 1920's showing him with a delivery bike.  The name Markwick ..... Brasted phone 16 is on the bike, has anyone details of this firm.  His name was Edmund Vernon Tully. Would someone who has access to the Hartlip parish registers be so kind as to do a lookup for me please? I am looking for the marriage before 1810 (probably between 1780 and 1810) of a male GRIFFITHS to a Margaret (unknown surname).

By way of explanation, Margaret's husband died and she re-married (as Margaret GRIFFITHS, widow, to Benjamin NEWNHAM, at Hartlip in 1810.

I live in Cowden & have heard that Four Elms residents have formed a group to bulk-purchase domestic heating oil at better prices. I would very much like to learn more in order to understand how the system works, could it be expanded beyond Four Elms or could we duplicate it here.

I'm currently researching the windmills of West Kent, and William Ashby actually built Knockholt mill in 1836 I think, together with other mills.  A millwright's ledger book has been deposited in Kent Archives Office in Maidstone, where it can be read.  I'm currently also very interested in William and family's activities.
